Safety oversight mandate
The Air Navigation Regulation Directorate is responsible for the safety oversight of air navigation services and meteorology services. As mandated by the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Proclamation NO 616/2008, we exercise delegated authority to ensure national and international compliance.

Duties & responsibilities
Identify weakness in documentation, operational processes and procedures.
Identify performance of human resource in relationship with equipment and procedures.
Conduct periodic audit, inspection, and surveillance activities.
Set requirements for manuals, plans of operation, and personnel training records.
Prepare and update guidance materials, checklists, and procedure handbooks.
Ensure implementation of systematic risk management within air navigation services.
Verify that operational personnel are competent to perform their duties.
Ensure ANS has implemented effective coordination with concerned units.
Provide professional advice and assistance on safety matters.
Disseminate guidance materials to ANS providers to ensure standard performance.
