Ethiopian Air Traffic Association marked the International Day of World Air Traffic Controllers(ATCs) today December 20,2025 in Dreamliner hotel, Addis Ababa,Ethiopia. State Ministers of Transport and Logistics of Ethiopia, Excellency Mr.Denge Boru and Excellency Mr.Berho Hassen graced the day, not only by their presence but also awarding certificates to senior and retired ATC professionals. Deputy Director General of Air Transport Sector H.E Mr.Mikael Tesfaye, who conferred his welcoming remark representing the Director General, Excellency Mr. Yohannes Abera said, ” the job of Air Traffic Controllers is one of the most vital duties in the air transport sector taking the lion share in terms of ensuring aviation safety.” with soaring of the Ethiopian Airlines services , Ethiopian Air Traffic Controllers are now serving morethan 600 take offs and landing airplanes per day in Addis Ababa International Airport, with out any accidents or incidents over the years. Ethiopian Airtraffic Controllers are reknowned to carry out meticulous jobs during the annual African Union Summits, when heads of states from 54 nations across the continent arrive in Addis Ababa International Airport; three or four of them sometimes arriving at a time. And normal flight schedules of the airline will continue side by side, thanks to those highly trained and dedicated ATCs. The Association also granted an honorary certificate to Minister of Transport and Logistics of the Republic of Ethiopia, H.E. Dr. Alemu Simmie for his relentless contribution to the successful operations of the ATC,who stood by their side all the time even during holidays to encourage them.
