A validation workshop over draft regulation of Remotely Piloted Aircrafts (RPAS) was conducted today September 10, 2019, at the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA) assembly hall.
The validation that was chaired by Wossenyeleh Hunegnaw (col.), Director General of ECAA has called for stakeholders from various ministries including Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Peace, Technology and Innovation, Ministry of National Defense, Ethiopian Air Force, among others.
Stakeholders have proposed key points to be included in the draft so that it will be much more comprehensive by the time it is presented to the Council of Ministers for endorsement.
Directives, rules and handbooks are expected to be prepared consecutively after the promulgation of the draft. It is known that ECAA has been rigorously working over RPAS for the past six years following the increasing demand of Drone technology for various purposes which posed safety and security issues, it is learnt.
